We are
looking for a home for this little munchkin, Our office manager found her
and we've always had good luck finding a home little kitty's, especially for
barn cats. We think she is just around 6 weeks old now (mid August), she is
already littler trained and does well around horses, dogs and other cats.
SWAP will get her shots done before she goes to her new home. We will either
get her fixed or have to require the adopters to get her fixed so we don't
make more stray munchkins like her. She has no vices, really sweet baby. She
is free to a good home. |

Brandy Alexander aka Alex 1995
Flea Bitten Grey, unregistered Spanish Norman (Andalusian x Percheron cross)
gelding, approx. 16 H. Has been
ridden on a regular basis, goes out on the trails but prefers not to lead,
Alex competed regularly last year at medieval events and won several titles.
Alex loves attention, keeps a clean stall, easy keeper, has good manners,
knows leads, likes to work, loads well, good with farrier, vet, cross ties,
he also bathes & comes when called, completely sound. Alex is
currently located in Bismarck, AR and will be placed from there.
Alex's adoption fell through for reasons that have nothing to do with Alex.
Some lucky adopter that wanted him and thought they missed him gets a second
chance. You'll want to move quickly as he is a popular boy.

Over The Creek, aka "Creek": 1995 registered bay TB gelding, 16.2 hands,
located in Raphine, VA. Registration number with the Jockey Club is 9501729.
No allergies, no surgeries, no fractures, no injuries or illnesses. Shots
and health care is current. Goes in a hackamore and prefers that to wearing
a bit, but as you can see, the owner is riding him in a hackmore and
bareback pad so he looks like a sensible, quiet boy to ride. Trained in
natural horsemanship, willing, sweet and easy going. He likes people, has
good manners, respects our space, good temperament, confident, knows leads,
likes to work, easily trained, smart, good with other animals and horses,
good with farrier and vet, loads, ties, cross ties, clips, bathes, good
alone, quiet in stall, free lunges, lunges on a line, comes when called, low
in pecking order in herd. Looking for non performance job on the flat,

registered paint gelding, 16 hands, built like a QH
(short backed and short neck), loves to jump and moves like a western pleasure
horse,
done a lot of
hunters and jumpers even with young and small riders. The owner said you can
relax with him and know he will jump everything... very very consistent
and loves to jump, she even jumped him with all 3 of her pregnancies
(obviously very consistent horse). Even when you do something that he's not
jumped in a long time, he does not get nervous, he just jumps it higher...
things like water obstacles. Other than jumping he moves like a western pleasure
pleasure horse so that maybe something he would pick up quickly. He's done lessons with kids as well so I think he is
very forgiving and easy, very straight forward and honest, consistent and
very well trained. The owner has requested that he not do more than one
lesson a day which is what we follow anyway and she said he could do 2'6
easy but has jumped higher. She said he will do full courses and you just go
and enjoy even when he has not jumped in a long time. Typical of a QH, he
needs good footing as his feet seem to be thin soled. He sounds like a super
horse, something a good child rider can build her confidence on but not for a
beginner when jumping a course as he gets revved up (typical of a good
competitor) and will win speed
events but then will go out of the ring on the buckle. They also said a couple times a year he gets an upset stomach, she gives
him 10cc of banamine and its gone but I guess he has a sensitive stomach.
This boy is not only a great horse but he is such a looker, what a cutie
pie. Located at SWAP HQ in WV now |

registered and imported westphalian gelding, 17.2
hands, located at CSS, more information coming when he
arrives. Sound and trained for dressage (such things are lateral work and
counter canters plus more) and jumping. Wonderful sweet boy coming from a
very good home that is very concerned that he gets a great home... some very
lucky adopter is going to love this guy.
here's a note from the former owner:
He has three nice gaits - not upper level
dressage type gaits but nice (and a super comfy canter). He knows
shoulder-in and out, haunches-in and out, half pass, leg yield - a wonderful
counter canter. as I think I mentioned - he's not perfect on his lead
changes. when you're jumping a course, he will get most of them - but on
the flat he's not consistent. he's not a speed demon - he can be a little
quiet even when he's in work (I always wore a little spur)- its just that he
will play when he's feeling fresh. his mouth is OK - but I wouldn't call it
sensitive. We've typically just used a loose ring snaffle - but sometimes
we'd show him in a 3 ring or a pelham because he could get a little heavy on
his forehand.
As for his papers - I will do my best to
find them. I'm not sure if you can order new ones or not - but I know I
wouldn't have thrown them out. He does have good breeding - he's from the
Pilot line. He was bred by an older man in Germany who's been in the
business for years - but only breeds a couple of horses a year, and treats
them like pets (which wont surprise you when you see how he is). I bought
him from someone who knew the breeder very well. He's really never had a
bad experience with people - is wonderful for vets, good for the farrier,
etc. |

We have
two dogs that really need a good home and they are ready to go to a good
home now. There is a very short application but they are free to a good
home. In fact, we'll take 2 payments off any horse adoption that is over
$1000. if you adopt one of these guys too. Of course, both adoptions must
make sense.
Cocoa is a male chocolate lab, about 2 or 3 years
old, fixed, current on shots and deworming, totally house broken, very easy
keeper, in fact you may have to pull up food to keep him from eating all the
time. Very sweet, needs some time to get to know a new person, dos not do
anything bad ever, just stays away from a stranger. He loves people and one
he warms up to you, he's very loyal, comes when called and minds really
well. Well past the chewing stage. Very healthy, doing very well on his
training and ready for a great home. No vices or bad habits. Loves the water
and if you have a pool he will be in it, even without you. Good with cats,
other dogs and horses. Cocoa is about 60 lbs
Dutch is a male Black Dutch Shepherd/black lab,
about 2 or 3 years old, fixed, current on shots and deworming, totally house
broken, never done a thing in the house, has never chewed ever. Shy around
other dogs until he gets to knows them. Great with kids, loves kids and
loves playing with them. Good with cats, other dogs and horses. Dutch is
probably about 40 lbs.
They are both smart about vehicles somewhat but
they both need to either be inside or on a farm away from the roads. A
fenced yard would be nice but they will stay home as long as they have a
pretty good sized area to play. |

Oscar's adoption
fee is $800.see
specials at the top of the page |
Oscar: 1990 TB
gelding, 16.2 hands, bay, sound, has done several different jobs, sweet
horse and a big beautiful boy. Great for many jobs with a good adult rider.
Sound for jobs on the flat, has a chip in the right knee which has caused a
problem over fences but he's sound as long as he's not jumped. Well trained
and will ride anyone with a quiet solid seat and calm hands but I would not
put with a child unless they are bigger and a good rider because he is so
big, suspect his gaits will be very big. Just goes in a driving snaffle and
a wide tree. He's done lower level dressage and schooling shows, likes
people, very sweet horse, good manners, respects your space, good
temperament, can be ridden today, likes to work, easily trained, smart, good
with other animals and horses, good with vet and farrier, loads, ties and
cross ties, clips, bathes, quiet in stall, not good alone, free lunges and
on a line, comes when called and can catch in an open field, gets along very
well with young and old horses, both mares and geldings, very comfortable
gaits. |

Sandhi: 1994 registered Paint gelding (APHA #352,707), out of Lil
Smokey Dee and by Heiristocracy, sound, dun colored, located about
1/2 hour from SWAP HQ but coming to SWAP,
15.1 hands (measured) built like a tank, lovely markings and coloring. A great addition to anyone's barn.
He has had 4 years of professional training,
in both western and english. Was used for
dressage lessons with the former owner and was working at training
level, great feet, goes barefoot, easy keeper, good manners once
he knows you're the boss, knows leads, likes to work, good with
horses, smart, easily trained, not for a small child or beginner, loads, good
w/vet, shots, and farrier, ties, cross ties, laid back, can be
ridden today, good temperament, confident, clips, bathes, likes
people, good alone, quiet in stall, free
lunges, lunges on line, comes when
called, high on pecking order, soft mouth, well trained, not crazy about
dogs and any horse that does not like dogs I would not have loose around
small children (small children or dogs walking into pasture), does best with
large turn out area, in tight turn out he will tend to pick on geldings.
Really the best home for him would be with an adult, not intimidated by a
confident horse. He's has been a pleasure/trail horse for the last couple of
years, not at all spooky, recommended for more pleasure and trail riding as
well as some fun hunter on the flat or fun dressage
(def: a couple of clinics a year, knock around the ring some before a
trailer ride or a show or two).
Sandhi is being returned because the family has no time for him
and feel its not fair to him. |

into a great home. Jack is located in Ohio but coming to WV soon. Not a
beginners horse.

L'Argent T: 1995 STB gelding, 15.2 hands, grey, sound,
trained to drive and also been under saddle. Will be doing more riding and
driving here. USTA # PM3112, by Meadowbranch Bret and out of Craag, no
allergies, sensitivities, surgeries, fractures, or illnessnes, fairly easy
keeper, not on lush grass right now, all shots done in March 2006, teeth
floated in Dec 2005, last raced in Jan 2006, likes people, good manners,
respects your space, good temperament, can be ridden today, confident, likes
to work, easily trained, smart, good with farrier and vet/shots, goes out
with the herd here and does fine, loads, gaited, good alone, quiet in stall,
comes when called, can catch in open field, has gone out on the trails, has
travelled in a straight load although he prefers a slant, no problems
loading, was a good racehorse, just wasn't holding up to such a high impact
job, used to wearing a blanket at 32 degrees, is used to board fencing and
doesn't challenge it, restricted from jumping since he's already done enough
high impact work. Pretty much all standardbreds become
wonderful family horses, trail horses,
kids horses and beginners horses
because of their great temperament and willingness to learn, soooo sensible.
They bathe, load, clip, cross tie and tie, they are good with the
farrier and
vet... they are just do it all horses. These 3 standardbreds will be very
close to the past 500 and some STB's we've placed into homes.
Excellent horses for all kinds of jobs. All these guys are pacers (pacers
also
trot but trotters very rarely pace unless trained to do so, they aren't
born pacing) with pacers you have tons of flexibility because you can take
them either way... go for a walk/trot/canter horse or go for a gaited
horse that will pace and rack. My mare will do all 5 gaits nicely so it just takes
time to teach them and a rider smart enough to ride 5 different gaits but
they are a very willing
partner. Grey standardbreds are pretty rare, we've
only placed 3 total out of all the standardbreds we've had go through the
program and as you can see he's a beauty. |

already accepts a saddle, of course, he is much to young to ride
but it shows just how willing this child is

Serendipity: Little Bay gelding
coming two (2006 foal), 14.1 hands (measured 4/08), Meaghan is his dam
and I suspect the appy stud is his dad as he has the appy scolary
(sp?) eyes (white around eyes) and a few other appy type markings.
(will get better pictures, he's a doll baby). Named Serendipity as
we know he will be a delightful, unexpected, surprise to a lucky
adopter. What a sweet calm
horse, he's going to be an easy one to train. This is one of the
best horses we've ever had in this program. He's already been
tacked up and bitted, by the time he's two or three and ready for
a rider he will be the perfect kids horse. Super super boy!! |

Itty Bitty at Aunt Lisa's and Uncle Jeff's,... she is getting so
big.
-
|
Itty Bitty Pretty aka "Bitty" Bay filly foaled out of Cookies 'n
Cream on Thursday June 28, 12.11/2 hands (measured 4/08), we are guessing but figure her dad was
the paint stallion or roy boy, the liver chestnut stallion that
was adopted by our trainer, very cute little girl, solid black.
was 10.3 hands in September but has grown since
then. She is quickly growing up, learning about leading,
accepting a halter and giving to pressure. She is very beautiful
and going to be a good size (maybe 15 hands), she is friendly and
always in your pocket, all the foals were imprinted and are
handled daily. Very healthy, eating good on her own and growing
like crazy. We are asking all the adopters of the babies to get
them professionally trained to give them a good start and SWAP can
certainly do that training here, we have other trainers we can
recommend too. She is completely weaned now. All the babies have
been separated from their mom for training and turn
out. They are all becoming quite independent.
Itty Bitty is being fostered by Aunt Lisa and
Uncle Jeff in Grafton, WV (about an hour from CSS) |

Tuff 2, aka "Tuff" gelding, coming two (2006
foal), paint, 13.3 hands measured 7/08, out of the bay
mare (Tuff Tiffany) that looks like a TB or QH mare and probably
sired by the paint stallion. Such a cutie, getting professional training here
on a regular basis, looks like he's going to have a light or
flaxen mane with lots of chrome. What a cutie pie. Good feet,
sound and healthy.
Sweet sweet baby and he's knees are very close to closing. |
